Ergometers
Your Choice: Mechanical or Eddy-current
Ergometer choice does not affect the diagnostic accuracy of the test.

each page)
Mechanical Ergometer
A very sleek, low profile, precision-engineered mechanical
bike made in the USA. The gear-driven, horizontal, 25 lb. flywheel is very
smooth and very quiet. During the exercise exam, the doctor or
assistant increases the workload according to the protocol by turning a
single knob. Readout displays pedal rpm and time. This simple bike
is preferred by many clinicians because it is so easy to use, durable,
dependable, maintenance free, economically-priced and, because it weighs only 40 pounds, is easily removed
from the bed by one person.
Eddy Current Ergometer
This German-made ergometer is
reliable, precise and easy to use. Its rpm-independent operation has been designed with daily routine
requirements in mind. Without expensive technical gimmicks it provides
all the functions required for rapid and efficient examinations.
(See details below.)
Automatic function control and push-button calibration help to make the exercise tests
run smoothly. The initial stress level,
the duration of the exercise stages and the rate of load increase can be programmed
according to the doctor's orders.
These set parameters can manually be changed instantly according
to the patient's condition, even during the
course of an exercise test.
The patient's performance can be
continuously monitored on the digital display, which shows load (in
watts), rpm,
and time elapsed.
Rest echoes can easily be performed on the bed with the bike in
place, but if desired, the ergometer can be removed in a matter of
seconds. (For post treadmill imaging, the bike should be removed.)
The ergometer's position on the bed is adjustable to accomodate
each patient. It can be
placed on the floor and used as an upright stationary bike if it is
anchored or placed on a rubber mat or carpet.

Using the
Eddy Current Ergometer
Manual Program
Enter the initial performance level by pressing the
power modification keys (-5, +5, -25, +25watts). The ergometer
maintains the adjusted work load electronically at a constant level,
irrespective of the rotational speed achieved by the patient.
During the examination you may increase or decrease the power at 5 or 25 watt
steps by pressing the power modification keys.
At the end of the examination simply press the STOP key.
Automatic Program
You may use one of 16 automatic programs
1. Select the starting workload (-5, +5, -25, +25watts)
2. Select the duration of each exercise stage
3. Select the work load increase for each exercise stage (0, 10, 25, 40,
50 watts)
4. When the patient begins pedaling, the work load program runs its
predetermined course according to your entries
The automatic program can be manually interrupted or modified
at any time.
